Guy is the lead pilot at our Craig CO base and just celebrated 12 years with the Classic team.
Originally from Libby MT, Guy grew up admiring the heroes of his youth: the NASA astronauts, specifically Neil Armstrong. They inspired him to dream of one day becoming a pilot. But first, Guy followed in the footsteps of his other hero, his dad.
He partnered with him as a heavy equipment operator, driving a logging truck and operating heavy machinery for about seven years. It was during this time that Guy began taking flight lessons, eventually leading to getting his pilot’s license in Greeley CO.
He took a flight instructor job in Helena MT while still driving a truck off and on to pay the bills. Soon, his piloting career took off, taking him to the bush country of Bethel AK, flying freight back in Helena for 18 years, and later air attack firefighting in Idaho. During a flight for FedEx in Missoula MT, Guy’s plane was struck by lightning! This was no problem for Guy, who safely landed the aircraft, transferred his freight into another plane, and completed his mission as tasked.
Guy knew some members of the Classic team from his time in Helena, and came aboard full time at our Page AZ base in 2009. He’d always wanted to try working as an air ambulance pilot and has loved his time flying across the Southwest, meeting colleagues who he says have become like family to him.
When he’s not flying, Guy lives in Kalispell MT with his wife Carissa and his five adopted children. They are foster parents for the state of Montana and have had close to 30 placements in their home over the last eight years. He also has two grown daughters from his first marriage. The family spends as much time as possible camping, boating, snowmobiling, and fishing in the great outdoors.
Thank you, Guy, for all that you do!
