Nikki is a flight paramedic at our Los Alamos NM base and is coming up on her one year anniversary with Classic next February.
Born in Albuquerque, Nikki is just like Classic in that she’s called almost every western US state home (all but Oregon, Washington, and Arizona!) She’s spent the last thirty years in the EMS industry, helping others everywhere from hospitals to helicopters to oil fields.
Nikki’s professional calling came as a teenager when her grandfather was sick and she found herself feeling helpless and not knowing what to do. On the recommendation of her uncle, a nurse, she began volunteering in the burn unit at the University of New Mexico, where she was hired for her first full-time position in 1990.
Nikki’s favorite part of her job are the people she’s met along the way, both her colleagues at the base and patients in the field. She says she’s lucky “not to just have a job but to have a job with people I really love working with.”
When she’s not at the base, Nikki lives in Las Cruces NM. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, and spending time with her adult son Sheldon. She’s also committed to her continuing education and does outreach for local communities in her area.
