Barry is the lead pilot at our base in Rawlins, Wyoming and has been a member of the Classic team since 2012. He helped open our Steamboat Springs base in 2014 before moving north to Wyoming three years later to open Rawlins.
Barry has spent his entire adult life serving those around him. The Ohio native enlisted in the United States Army in 1975, where he served as a military policeman and clinical medical specialist, before a skydiving experience in South Korea inspired him to take up a life in the skies – something he’d been dreaming about ever since he was five years old, when a Bell 47 pilot leaned out of the cockpit to wave to him while flying just thirty five feet overhead.
During his 25 years in the service, Barry served both at home and overseas, including Germany, which is where he both deployed to Desert Storm from and met his wife Maria. Fast forward to the turn of the century, when Barry retired from the military to become a police officer in Colorado Springs. After spending over a decade in the force, he took just one weekend off before joining Classic as a pilot at our Riverton base.
Barry has flown all around the world but calls the Rocky Mountains “a whole different game” for their beauty and awe-inspiring peaks. He considers the views just another perk of the job, and he gets to get to take them in alongside the medical crews he says he’s “honored to serve with.”
When he’s not flying, Barry is a dedicated Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He tries to fish whenever he can, and enjoys riding mountain bikes and his 1982 Honda motorcycle. He and his wife have two kids, two grandchildren, and another one on the way!
